THE COMPETITION

The University of Technology, Sydney is pleased to announce the winning proposal from its Broadway Building Design Competition, the first conducted as part of its City Campus Master Plan.

The winning architect is Melbourne-based practice Denton Corker Marshall.

Denton Corker Marshall’s proposal was selected as part of a two-stage design excellence competition process, run by the university. Six architects, all Australian, were selected to participate in Stage 2 of the competition.

The competition Assessment Panel comprised representatives from UTS, the City of Sydney and the NSW Department of Planning. The Stage 2 competition ran from 1 April to 20 May 2009.

 

THE BUILDING

An integral component of the City Campus Master Plan, the UTS Broadway Building, approximately 27,000sqm, will house the UTS Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology. It will be located on the north side of Broadway, between Wattle and Jones Streets, opposite the Frasers Broadway site (formerly the Carlton United Brewery). The UTS Broadway Building will be a vital part of the redefinition of the southern approach to the Sydney CBD.

ASSESSMENT REPORT

This document is the Broadway Building Stage 2 Competition Jury Report to the NSW Department of Planning (Consent Authority). It contains information relevant to future planning approval processes and is being made public via this website. An overall competition report will be published by UTS at a later date.
